A young runaway, Danny Chase (b. 2009), was abducted by The Light after testing positive for the Meta-Gene and trafficked to the Orphanage.
There, he was subjected to brutal experiments that would force his dormant meta-genes to awaken.
Satisfied that his abilities - telekinesis and multi-dimensional travel - would be valuable, DeSaad removed his still-conscious brain and placed it in an Apokoliptian cube. Merging with Father Box technology, he became a prisoner within the Kaizer-Thrall.
After three hellish years living as a sentient weapon, Danny's mind and free will were restored by Aquaman II, with help from a Mother Box, purging the Kaizer-Thrall of Father Box’s influence and severing his mental link to Apokolips.
Now calling himself Mother-Thrall, he would be welcomed into Earth’s superhero community after his bravery during the battle of Metropolis, where he defeated Ma’alefa’ak and banished him, as well as General Zod’s Kryptonian legion, into the Phantom Zone.
