The late wife of Giovanni Zatara and mother of Zatanna, Sindella Zatara (bn 1975 - 2008) supported her husband's career as a vigilante and crime fighter, raising their daughter with family friend, Kent Nelson, in his absence. 

After a diagnosis of cancer, she underwent chemo therapy. However, she did not survive.

He managed to escape in escape in the chaos.
